The Christmas Stroll Committee is pleased to announce that the winner of the 2013 Christmas Stroll poster contest is Elizabeth LaRowe.
Elizabeth has concentrated her personal artistic efforts in water media techniques for the past 40 years. Originally from the Boston, Massachusetts area, Elizabeth retired after a 39 year career as an art educator. Her teaching experience encompassed kindergarten through college level courses. Living in Red Lodge is inspirational for her artistic talents because of its rich sources for artistic expression, she says. According to Elizabeth, “The changing light that falls on the diverse landscapes and the constantly changing atmospheric conditions are just asking to be painted.”
Red Lodge Area Chamber of Commerce Executive Director Patty Davis notes, “This year’s Christmas Stroll poster captures the unique feeling of our very special event, a chance to remember the warmth of family and friends, the very special atmosphere of our downtown during the holiday season.”
“Teaching art forces one to break down artistic and creative processes into small understandable steps with the added benefit of making the teacher a better artist.”
– Elizabeth LaRowe
