This evening, the Red Lodge Area Chamber of Commerce’s monthly “After Hours” mixer was held at the Senior Center. The event, co-sponsored by the Village Shoppe, drew about 25 people from local businesses and nonprofits.
The Senior Center serves Red Lodge area residents age 50 and over. The modest membership fee is recovered with a free birthday dinner each year. They provide regular dinners, a thrift shop, and numerous other services, including inexpensive bus rides to Billings for doctor appointments or visits. Many people in Red Lodge rely on the thrift shop at the Senior Center for inexpensive donated clothing and household items.
The Village Shoppe has served Red Lodge for decades, providing Western style clothing and accessories. One person at the mixer joked about having to use the Senior Center bus to go to Billings and buy “the few things you can’t buy in Red Lodge, like underwear,” at which point Marge McCarty of the Village Shoppe pointed out that they do, indeed, have underwear there!
Chamber members and other business owners are encouraged to attend the After Hours mixers, which are held on the third Thursday of each month. Each is hosted by a different member business.
