After an intense thirteen minutes and thirty seconds, Tyler Sultenfuss was crowned winner of the Mas Taco eating contest. He put away the monstrous chimi/burrito/relleno which weighed in at two pounds, five ounces. It was a chile relleno stuffed inside an empanada, fried crispy, stuffed inside a double burrito with carne asada, rajas, beans, rice, crema, onions, cilantro, salsa, (hot sauce optional), rolled and fried into a chimichanga, smothered with guajillo-ranchera sauce, more crema, and cabbage slaw. And one pickled carrot.
The race was incredibly close, and second place went to Dianna Greer. Prizes came from numerous local sponsors, including the Ski Station, Red Lodge Ales, True Value, Radio Shack, and Red Lodge Tour and Taxi. Honorable mentions to Bradley Brabec, Zack Sagrilla, and Miles Hinard, who also ate like champions! As soon as the editing is done, we’ll post a link to the full video on Red Lodge TV.
A poll will appear in the January issue of the Local Rag, as well as at localrag.com, to name this new Mas Taco creation.
