After the close of candidate filing for the November 4, 2014 election, it has been determined by the election administrator that no primary election for the county offices or city offices will be held as per MCA 13-14-115. In addition to cost savings, a primary election will not affect the candidates that will be on the November 4, 2014 General Election ballot.
The County and City races include the unopposed incumbents except for the Carbon County Sheriff/Coroner’s race. Those candidates for the Sheriff/Coroner’s race are Ralph Dawson and Josh McQuillan.
The incumbents that will appear on the November 4, 2014 election ballot will be:
- County Commissioner District #1-Doug Tucker
- County Clerk & Recorder-Marcia Henigman
- County Attorney-Alex Nixon
- Justice of the Peace-Kevin Nichols
- County Treasurer/Assessor/Superintendent of Schools-Jane Swanson Web.
The commissioners issued a resolution in December 2013 to consolidate the Superintendent of Schools with the Treasurer/Assessor’s office.
The City of Red Lodge incumbents that will be on the November 4, 2014 ballot will be:
- City of Red Lodge Ward 1-Michael John Schoenike
- City of Red Lodge Ward 2-William Larson
- City of Red Lodge Ward 3-Bill Foisy
The state offices and government review questions for the county and certain cities will be on the primary ballot. The Primary Election is June 3, 2014.
There are some polling place changes as approved by the governing body. Roscoe Precinct #13 will be voting at Luther School commencing at noon and ending at 8:00pm on Primary Election day. Notices of the change will be sent out to all Roscoe households. The reasoning for the change comes from a variety of obstacles. Among them are no cell phone service and no election judges available. This is a permanent change of polling place for all elections until further notice.
The second polling place change is for Red Lodge, Precincts #8, 9, 10, and 11. For the June 3, 2014 Primary Election ONLY, the polling place has been changed to the Red Lodge Senior Center as the Red Lodge Civic Center is not available that day. Signage will be out and the Red Lodge Senior Center is only steps away. The polls will open at 7:00 am and close at 8:00 pm. The General Election will be held at the Red Lodge Civic Center on November 4, 2014.
